Thermoplastic Material on a Roll

Orficast is a thermoplastic material on a roll that offers extreme comfort and support. This easy-to-use, fabric-like material is ideal for all finger and thumb orthoses and provides elasticity in two directions. The splinting material provides excellent ventilation in wound care and enhances patient comfort during healing. It is activated in hot water like all thermoplastic materials and the self-adhesive material easily molds around body parts.

Recommended Applications

Orficast thermoplastic material is ideal for a variety of small and large orthoses. Use for quick immobilization of fingers and thumb in cases of trauma and when comfortable, lightweight stabilization is needed after injury. Use for all types of orthoses that include finger, hand, wrist, or even ankle orthoses. This material is especially suited for children and those with fragile skin.

How it Works

Orficast can be molded directly on the patient without risk of skin burns. Even though the cooling time is short, the material allows for adequate working time to complete the correct alignment. Orficast can be cut easily with regular scissors to any shape and length. Overlapping creates rigidity, but the seams are not perceptible on the inner surface. Orficast orthoses allow full functional ability while offering lightweight, yet rigid support.
