The splint gives a constant low-load force to the user during the night that adjusts to changes in muscle tone. During the acute phase of the injury, the splint gives a gradual stretch that can be progressed as tolerance increases. To help with recovery, the shell allows comfort and safety while walking so users can use the splint while resting and at night. To ensure the fastest recovery, the treatment should incorporate night splints, orthopedics, stretching, and cold therapy. Even after recovery, the night splint should be used to help maintain flexibility.
