In order to prevent mallet deformity, the splint supports the DIP joint in an neutral position. The splint is made from malleable aluminum to hyper-extend the DIP joint while still allowing the PIP joint full motion. The underside of the splint is nylon that prevents splint slipping even when wet. The splint has a hook & loop closure.
